August 2015
Dear Hillel Parents,
I hope you are enjoying your summer vacation. PTA has been hard at work preparing for the upcoming school year and we look forward to much success in the weeks and months ahead. On our Hillel website you will find a list of the many programs and events we have planned for the upcoming school year along with the names of the chairpersons for each event, and their scheduled dates. We hope that you review this information and choose to get involved in an existing program or to initiate a new project with our PTA. Please note that we hold PTA Board meetings approximately six times each year (check the link to the 2015-2016 calendar). Due to requests from parents, the meetings will alternate between morning and evening to accommodate more people’s schedule. Everyone is welcome to attend!
Please mark your calendars for:
*August 20, 21, 23: Uniforms available for purchase at Hillel Day School from 10:00am-12:00pm.
*Sunday, August 23 (drop-in day):
1. Parents and students may pick-up school supplies ordered through the PTA in their
respective classrooms and place labels on them. Supplies that are not picked-up on Sunday will be awaiting your child in his/her classroom Monday morning.
2. Our Annual Ice Cream Social from 10:30am-12:00pm. This is a fun family event and a great way for the children, teachers and parents to get together in an informal setting before the school year begins. We look forward to seeing you there!
3. Uniforms available for purchase at Hillel Day School from 10:00am-12:00pm.
*Sunday, Aug 30. 9:30am-11:00am: Brunch for all mothers who are new to Hillel Day School. PTA looks forward to meeting you and telling you a bit about what we do.
*Wednesday, September 2: First PTA meeting at 8:20am in the Middle School conference room. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.
*Thursday, September 3, 7:00-9:30pm: Pre-Rosh Hashanah Fall Boutique at Boca Raton
Synagogue. Come and enjoy the wide-variety of vendors.
*Thursday, September 10: Perfect Present participation deadline. Checks due at front desk.
For those new to our school, we want to assure you that PTA will not ask you to purchase items you do not want or to participate in programs you do not need. Yes, as you look at the PTA information on-line, you will notice there are some programs that cost money, such as our Teacher Appreciation Breakfasts and Birthday Book Club. These programs are important and therefore PTA continues to offer them. Overall however, PTA strives to raise funds for our school at no extra cost to you. Please note the many ways you can support our children’s school financially without actually spending any extra money – and sometimes even saving money while you help Hillel.
I am sure we will have a wonderful year together! I hope you will volunteer your time if you are able and join the many involved parents in making our PTA the best it can be. Feel free to contact me at (561) 212-6352 or sharonakay@mac.com with any questions or suggestions.
Respectfully,
Sharona Kay, PTA President
